HOW DO YOU HOLD AND PLAY A SINGING BOWL?

Here are a few techniques on how to hold and use a singing bowl.
AROUND THE RIM TECHNIQUE:
Put the bowl on the palm of your left hand.
Hold the mallet mid-length with your finger's tip pointing downwards.
Gently tap the side of the bowl and then rub it clockwise around the edge of the rim of the bowl.
Used full arm movement just like stirring a big pot and the mallet straight up.
Apply little pressure while doing this and keep doing it for a few minutes until it produces a soothing sound. Do not speed it but do is slowly will produce a good effect.
THE WAH WAH TECHNIQUE:
Place the bowl on your palm just like the above method and rotate the mallet in a clockwise direction.
Now pull the mallet away from the bowl and let it continue to sing.
Then raise the bowl to your mouth and open and close your mouth just like you are making the sound wah-wah but don't produce any sound, just open your mouth that way.
By changing the shape of the oral cavity, the sound of the singing bowl bounce around your mouth and reflected back. This way you are modulating the sound at the rim of the bowl.
THE WATER TECHNIQUE:
A special sound is also produced by adding a little amount of water to the bowl.
The amount of water added depend on the size of the bowl.
Add at least 3/4 of water to the bowl and make sure not to wet the rim.
Now move the mallet around the rim by applying a little pressure for few minutes and then move the mallet away allowing the bowl to continue to sing.
With the bowl still in your palm, tilt the bowl so that the water inside gently taps towards the side of the bowl.
Continue to gently swirl and tilt the bowl, make sure that you will not spill the water. A special sound is produced which is very pleasing to the ear.
