The modern-day movie watching experience has been largely shaped by the emergence of several multiplexes. Unlike single screen theatres, multiplexes offer a wholesome experience and as such, catching up a movie with a bucket of popcorn has become one of the best weekend activities for today’s youth. Neither are you required to buy tickets standing in a line nor keep yourself free for the 3-6-9 show timings. Multiplexes have your favourite movies running throughout the day, making the entire thing extremely enjoyable and convenient for you at the same time.

Now, the good news for people living in Durgapur is that the luxurious multiplexes are no longer restricted to Kolkata and the metropolitan cities only. You have multiplex in Durgapur too, promising you the same kind of entertainment that comes with a hardcore urban lifestyle.

So, what are the popular multiplex chains in India? Here, take a look:

PVR was the first to introduce the concept of multiplexes in India. PVR OR Priya Village Roadshow cinemas is one of the largest movie chains in India today. Launched in 1997, it was a joint venture of Priya Exhibitors Private Limited and Village Roadshow Limited and today they have around 142 screens and 33 multiplexes spread across India. They modernized the Multiplex industry by introducing state of the art audio-visual effects, screens, extremely comfortable seating and, thereby, changed the movie going experience for movie goers.

When we say Inox, the first thing that comes to mind is the International Film Festival of India which has been hosted by Inox, Goa since 2004. Inox Leisure Limited is a part of the Inox group. They are spread across 26 cities across India with 40 multiplexes and 151 screens.

While Cinepolis used to be popular in Thane, Amritsar and Bangalore earlier, it is now present in the City of Joy too. The Acropolis Mall near Kasba and the Lake Mall in Rashbehari Avenue have Cinepolis as their multiplex.

SRS Cinemas

SRS Cinemas is a theatre company and a part of SRS Ltd. It is a fast growing company with a chain of multiplexes spread across 6 cities. With the ever growing footfalls in SRS Cinemas, it may soon race to the top of the multiplex business.

When it comes to high comfort recliners, push-back seats and the red lounge, the name that comes to mind is Cinemax. Cinemax India Ltd. is a Mumbai based company and a part of the Kanakia group. Cinemax is already spread across various towns in India and is growing steadily. Currently, they have 25 properties with 74 screens all across the country.

So, now that you have all the knowledge, choose your favourite multiplex and have an amazing experience.
