Most people leave their bathrooms for last when decorating the house. However, although you may not realize it, you actually spend a lot of time in this room. Even more importantly, you spend vital moments in here. For instance, you are in the bathroom shortly after you wake up and once you come home from a long day. This means that this one room needs to be both invigorating and calming all at once. Of course, it also has to be fully functional and cater to all of your needs. Here are some decorating tips you can use:

Pick Your Paint

One of the most important things you are going to have to do is decide what color you want to paint your bathroom walls. First, however, you are going to have to determine what type of ambiance you are going for. For instance, if you want something that is light and airy, try painting your bathroom all white. If you want something that is a little more refreshing or rejuvenating, a light green is your best bet. Shades of spearmint in particular are ideal for creating something that will instantly wake you up. If your bathroom is quite small, you may want to focus on large areas of neutral colors. This will make the room seem a lot bigger than it actually is.

Statement Piece

You should have at least one or two items in your bathroom that simply draw the eye. This is particularly important if you are planning on painting your bathroom all white, or are going for neutral shades. Oneway you can do this is by having a bright and bold shower curtain. You should also opt for a couple of round towels. The uniqueness and distinctiveness of these objects will be a welcome pop of color and pattern in an otherwise sterile room. Another advantage of having statement pieces is that you can have the rest of the d├ęcor be quite plain in comparison. The statement objects will do all the work in providing an interesting contrast.

Storage

All of your hard work decorating your bathroom will be ruined if all of the surfaces are cluttered. Bathrooms are where you keep many different products. You are going to find a place to store your soap, shampoo, conditioner, makeup, and many other items. You can turn this into an interesting furnishing opportunity as well. Choose distinct pieces that you can use to keep all of these daily products. A great idea is to have something that looks vintage or can pass for an antique as a storage cabinet.

Dress Your Tub

Your bathtub is rarely considered when decorating your bathroom. This is too bad as there is so much that you can do with it! For instance, have you ever considered painting yours a different color? Most tubs are available in white or other neutral shades. However, if you would like to do something a little different, why not paint your tub in lovely pastel colors?Of course, the shades are entirely up to you and should suit the paint that you have chosen for your walls.

These are just a few ideas to take your bathroom from drab to fab. Try them out and admire the difference it makes.
