With a booming CBD industry, more people are becoming aware of its powerful effects. It’s helped people overcome a variety of ailments, from simple nausea to more dangerous epilepsy and seizures. The hemp plant has received much unfounded prejudicial treatment since the 1930s, unfairly being made illegal and earning classification as a schedule one controlled substance drug. With a more open-minded modern culture, many people today are calling hemp a miracle plant.

Hemp has countless benefits for medicinal use. And one can witness its popularity with hemp and CBD products in stores across the nation and even online. It comes in edibles, vape format, and even THC-free CBD oil. But exactly knowing what you’re getting with each version can make the difference between it working for you or not.

Where It Comes From and How It Works

CBD is short for cannabidiol, a cannabinoid compound in the cannabis plant. Researches continue to study its therapeutic effects, especially with CBD concentrations in oil form. The most common and well-known compound in cannabis is THC, which is the mind-altering compound that gets people “high.” But CBD isn’t psychoactive like THC, so it doesn’t change a person’s state of mind. However, it does produce significant bodily changes.

CBD comes from the cannabis plant, otherwise known as marijuana or hemp. Marijuana farms breed their plants to contain high levels of THC, but hemp farmers rarely modify the plant. It’s from hemp plants that they extract CBD oil. CBD attaches to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body for cannabinoids. Many CB1 receptors are in the brain, dealing with movement, mood, emotions, pain, appetite, and more. The immune system is where you’ll find CB2 receptors.

The Benefits

There are many health-related benefits to CBD. It’s often a natural alternative to pain relief and as use as an anti-inflammatory. The FDA even approved CBD for use to fight epilepsy and epileptic seizures in 2018. Researchers have also studied its effects on many other neurological disorders and symptoms, including schizophrenia. It’s also proven useful to combat anxiety disorders, paranoia, panic attacks, and PTSD.

There’s also been research on CBD’s effect on cancer, type 1 diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s disease. Though there’s substantial evidence to show its positive impact, there’s still more research to be done. There’s also promising evidence that CBD can help people quit smoking, as well as those with opioid addictions and symptoms associated with them, including withdrawals, insomnia, and mood-related symptoms. It’s also shown promise for use in fighting acne breakouts.

Not everyone wants to experience being “high” when looking for a natural remedy, which is why they opt for the THC-free CBD oil when seeking alternative healthcare.
