For driveway or basement concrete floor crack repair, you should only use tried and tested methods. Several techniques can be applied to help you fix cement surfaces. Read on to learn some of them.

This is best for broken surfaces that have lost their tensile strength. It uses metal rods, shaped to look like staples, to connect two sides of a crack.

Holes are drilled on both sides of a fissure. After they're cleaned, the metal legs of a staple are anchored into them. Then, they're sealed with grout or epoxy resin. This is one of the best concrete crack repair methods because it's easy to do on your own, and it has surprisingly long-lasting results.

Epoxy Injection

This technique is suitable for narrow concrete fractures with an opening bigger than 0.0019 inches. It brings a surface back to its previous condition. But, this shouldn't be used if the crack has the potential to widen or the area is always wet.

The epoxy needs a clean surface to hold on to, so the gaps have to be vacuumed or flushed out with water. Once dry and free of debris, the bonding agent can be injected. Repaired surfaces should be treated with a sealant to prevent the liquid solution from leaking out.

This method is commonly used for walls and structures prone to vertical cracks. It's effective for breaks that are straight and consistent. In this technique, holes are drilled along the length of the fissure. Then, keys, which are pegs made with cement, are inserted into each pit, and the crack is filled in with grout. These are meant to stop it from expanding.

Routing and Sealing

This is used when remedial crack repairs are needed, and structural repairs aren't required. The damage is enlarged by using a saw or driller, forming a V-shaped groove. This is then filled in and sealed with a joint sealant. Make sure that it bonds with the concrete and flows under operating conditions.

Dry Packing

Dry packing involves the placement of mortar with low water content by hand. This is done by tamping and ramming it into place to connect it with the concrete. It's used for small, inactive cracks.

These are just some of the best concrete crack repair methods. Learn these techniques if you want to restore almost any cement surface in your home.
