Social media took the internet in a different direction we had ever expected. It became the platform for common human interaction today. Phone calls themselves were considered to be hooking people to technology but with instant messaging and other apps, the telephone is now considered very mild in comparison. It all started with E-mails and then to quickly gave rise to MySpace, Hi-5 and eventually Social media giant Facebook. The social media created a network where every living soul on the platform was exposed to every other living soul through their profiles. This gave every entity a chance to show itself to the world. Because chats, group chats, and comments feature were present, it was easy to start a discussion on it which was open to everyone. The open nature of the Social media sites helped every entity to gain momentum in their rising popularity. The rising popularity of gaming also began from here. They quickly got pages and people started pouring in huge numbers. Eventually, the gaming world was not only limited to the expert gamers.

Did the number of users for a game rise when social media came into existence?

The answer is yes. The social media was very helpful in the rising numbers of fans and users throughout. One of the most important things to look out for in this aspect is the correlation of the rise in the number of users and the popularity of Social Media. The graph gives high correlation between the two entities. Social media was used as an advertising platform in a subtle and clever way. People who wanted to make things more widespread started making memes.  Reddit discussions that got more upvotes were looked upon by other users or the layman in the gaming world. The likes and upvotes in the social media platforms also started to get sold. As a result, it did become some kind of a clever and appealing way of advertisements. There were chatrooms where people started to the conversation of the games and were paid to do so. Since gaming already was a popular thing, to begin with, a higher number of people joined in. That gave a boost to the advertisement of an already popular industry.

What is the role of chatrooms in the advertisement of a game?

Chatrooms are virtual spaces created for the discussion and conversation of people who want to be a part of it. They are sometimes moderated by some users. They are very common for people who want to have conversations regarding a specific thing. The conversation is for everyone is like group chat but in a chatroom, you can always leave and join the room according to your choice. Gamers with common interests can always introduce a conversation about a new game at any given time. Gamers are always ready for new challenges and variety. Sometimes there are chatrooms solely designed for a game like Lolchatroom.com which is solely dedicated to conversations regarding League of Legends. Strategies of gaming and new updates are the most common topics on which rooms are created for. Like Lolchatroom.com, most of the popular games with users more than 20 million, have their own dedicated chatrooms.
