Who is this new blogger?

So, why did I decide to join the hordes of others who write blogs?  Not because I think I have anything truly profound to say.  I wouldn't even categorize myself as strongly opinionated.  But sometimes, I have words I would like to cast out to the world, at large.  A question that bothers me, thoughts to sort out, or just a random commentary on something of interest to me.

I'm guessing, since this is my first post, that the title of my blog is what brought you here.  I should explain a bit more.  I am a spiritual person believing in an Almighty God.  However, I don't buy the many religious models or atheistic views of our life and what happens afterward.

For me, I have found greater truths about God hidden in the Doctor Who fandom (not to mention many other pop culture areas) than some will ever find in a church.  So, as I work out some of my own beliefs, I'd love to discuss some of my ideas through this blog and see if it resonates with anyone else's experience.

That being said, I am a church goer.  I have chosen a "religion" that most closely believes what I do.  However, they are full of flaws, just as any human organization is. But I'm not satisfied with the idea that we abandon it all together.  I've met great friends, had wonderful experiences and have built a small family within my community of faith.  I believe we are all just seekers trying to get along and have a positive experience as we share a belief in a God.

I don't think you can truly be a believer, though, unless you actually pick up a Bible and read it.  So, I do.  I still have many questions and I'm always looking for ways to make the text seem more alive and applicable to my personal story.  And this is where the Doctor has truly begun to give me deeper insights rather than just a fun way to spend an evening.

I hope you'll join me in my adventures with Doctor Who and maybe we can learn something about God at the same time.
