CAT or Common Admission Test is the mandatory test for flagship PGP programmes in 19 IIMs and other top B schools of India. CAT 2015 is going to be different from previous year CAT exams as this year many changes have been introduced in scheduling, pattern, registration process, and selection of test center, duration of test, exam pattern, and declaration of results.

Given below are the essential details of CAT 2015 exam patter.
CAT 2015 exam paper would be divided into 3 sections. Quantitative Ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning, and verbal and reading comprehension. There would be total of 100 questions, 34 from Quantitative Ability section and Verbal and reading comprehension and 32 questions from data interpretation and logical reasoning. The duration of the exam would be 180 minutes. Candidates would be given a sectional duration of 1 hour to complete each section.
CAT 2015 exam paper would have both multiple choice questions and non-multiple choice questions. Candidates who are appearing for CAT 2015 will be allowed on screen basic calculator. The marking scheme is different for non-multiple choice questions and multiple choice questions. For each non-multiple choice question, candidates would be awarded 3 marks for each correct answer. For wrong answers, there would be no marks and no marks would be deducted for the same. For multiple-choice questions, candidates will be given 3 marks for each correct answer. 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks would be given for un-attempted questions.

CAT 2015 exam pattern doesn’t allow candidates to attempt any of the sections first. They have to answer the questions in pre-specified order, as per the officials. Further, candidates will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a particular section. They will be given exact 60 minutes to answer questions in each section. The number of non-multiple choice questions in each section varies and is not disclosed by the officials.
CAT is a computer bases multiple choice objective type exam. In the history of CAT this would be the first time when candidates can use basic calculator for calculations.
