Contraception is the technique of preventing an eventual pregnancy to happen, as a consequence of sexual intercourse. It has been used since antiquity, but the most effective methods have become available only from the 20th century. In some cultures, birth control methods are strongly discrouraged, due to the moral values, religion and political points of view.

The most common methods of contraception are: condoms, birth control or contraceptive pills (which contains hormones that prevent the ovulation in the female body), or intrauterine devices (which prevents the fertilized ovum from being inplanted in the uterus). Other solution to avoid pregnancy is the emergency pill, which must be taken within 24 to 72 hours since the intercourse, and can be bought from every pharmacy without medical prescription. However, it is not recommended to take an emergency pill more than 2 times in one year. This is why, for a long-term security method is better for women to choose the birth-control pills. They will be prescribed and chosen only by the doctor, according to menstrual symptoms, cardiovascular health, weight, height or other health conditions.

The contraceptive pills (also called oral contraceptive pills) are a combination of two hormones: estrogen and progestin. They work in two phases: first one, which prevents the ovulation (the release the egg during the month cycle); and the second phase, which thickens the mucus around the cervix and prevents the sperm to enter into the uterus.  Most combination pills come in either a 21-day pack or a 28-day pack. The pill must be taken daily for 21 days, with a break for 7 days (during the month cycle).

Diane-35

Although is commonly used in the treatments for severe acne and for excessive growth of facial and body hair, Diane-35 can also be used as a contraceptive pill, due to estrogen and progestin hormones. Diane-35 is not recommended for men and women in menopause period. For a higher efficiency, it should not be used in combination with other hormonal contraceptives. The women who used Diane-35 have noticed the following benefits during its use: more regular and lighter periods, a decrease in period pain, reduction of greasiness in skin and hair.

Each box of Diane-35 contains 28 pills, which must be taken daily at the same time. They have the days written on each pill, for a more effective and easy use. If you forget to take one pill, do not take a double dose next day.
