You should learn how to write an essay in order to understand how to persuade other people that you’re right, by using facts and arguments. Also, composing well-written argumentative papers will earn you high scores in school. Creating a paper of top quality will be much easier if you know what steps to take.

Guidelines for Crafting an Excellent Argumentative Essay

  • Pick a topic to discuss.

It’s recommended you select an issue that you have a strong stance on. This way, it’ll be easier for you to come up with good arguments in support of your position. If you choose a topic that you don’t care about, your paper isn’t likely to be very persuasive.

  • Conduct research.

Your arguments will require factual evidence. To find the needed proof for your points, you’ll need to read relevant books, articles, and other materials. Once you find the evidence for your arguments, highlight this information to use in your paper.

  • Create an outline.

Once you’ve found all the information for your paper, you should plan its structure. Divide your to-be text into three parts: the introduction, body, and conclusion. Then, indicate what pieces of information you’ll present in each of these parts.

  • Write your paper.

Make sure to have a clear thesis statement at the end of the first paragraph. In the body, raise your arguments and use the quotations from the sources you’ve read to support them. In the conclusion, summarize your arguments and indicate the importance of your academic paper.

  • Proofread your paper.

Writing your text, you may have made some mistakes. To get rid of them, you should revise your paper carefully several times. During the proofreading, you might also want to rewrite some sentences or phrases to make them clearer or stronger.

Using Argumentative Essay Examples to Your Advantage

In order to learn how to create better argumentative papers on your own, you may read well-written examples of this type of papers. There are plenty of samples that you should be able to find in your school library. Also, you may use various online sources to acquire the needed templates.

As you can see, writing an argumentative paper isn’t very difficult if you take the right steps. Allocate plenty of time to choosing the best points in defense of your main idea and finding the proof to support them.
