It’s the end of the holidays and you probably feel like you’re bankrupt. Well… it might feel like that but that doesn’t necessarily mean that is true. You’ve probably just spent a bit more than you should and now you’re struggling with the aftermath of the holiday season. But not to worry, just because you’re starting 2018 broke, doesn’t mean you have to finish it the same way.
Here you can learn a few tips that will help you save some money and keep your finances in check for this year.
Don’t carry your credit/debit cards
Spending money with plastic makes it a lot easier, because those little plastic cards feels the same way in our hands whether we’ve spent $100 dollars or $2000 dollars. Leave your cards at home and just carry some cash with you. This way you’ll limit to spending the cash that you have, instead of spending more with your cards.
Don’t buy stuff you don’t need
Unfortunately, is normal to spend more than we should during the holiday season. We tend to feel merry and generous and want to share the joy around. It’s good, but keep it in check. Don’t buy stuff you don’t need. Before making a big purchase think it twice. Go home, reflect on it and think if you really need it.
Put some money on the side
You don’t have to save thousands, just put a little bit every day, you might even consider a piggy bank. You choose how. Just grow into the habit of saving a bit of money every day! And don’t spend it.
Avoid small spending
A few bucks in a drinking your coffee at Starbucks or at eating out might not seem much. It’s $10 dollars here and there, but when you add up all that money it can become a small fortune. Eat at home and take your lunch to work. Avoid spending on the little things, because they end up being the big things on many occasions.
