Improving customer service is not a one day process it should be done on daily basis. With each customer interaction depends how he spread the word to other potential customers about your company and your service. Everything depends on how you treat them; will they be glad with the great service they received? Or will they turn away because of a bad customer service experience?

There are few tips mentioned for Excellent Customer Service,

  • Always greet your customer with a smile in person and even if you're on phone.
  • Avoid referring to older customers and women as “guys”, use age-appropriate greetings.
  • Be proactive and ask how they would like to have your service.
  • Stay visible and available, don’t stay too close maintain a proper distance.
  • When customer approaches don’t turn away or walk away, it may give a bad impression on customer.
  • Always takes preference to a customer who is standing in front of you rather who calls on the phone.
  • Never judge a book by its cover—all customers deserve attention doesn't matter how there look or appearance.
  • Leave food and beverages in the break room.
  • A customer never wants to hear about your upcoming break.
  • If you want to make any kind of personal call do it when you're on a break or out of earshot.
  • Never use words like “I don’t know” instead you can use, “I can find out for you.”
  • If a customer wants something that is not on the display list instead of denying go to the stock and check may be you'll find it.
  • If it's still not in stock and easily available then try to order it from another store.
  • By somehow if you get in contact with chatty customers then don't let them dominate your time if others are waiting.
  • If queue is getting large then call for backup support.
  • Never discuss customers in front of other customers
  • Before leaving make sure your customer received everything they’ve paid for.
  • Goodbye your customer again with a smile and take them in confidence to come back again.

If still something not working out then customer service training (Kundenservice Ausbildung) is another better option and traditionally delivered soon after someone joins the organization. Training mainly focus on one's how to approach, greet and speak to a customer.
